‘Fade Away Diamond Time’ Vinyl Release

Record Store Day, October 24

Twenty-five years since its initial release, Neal's debut album, Fade Away Diamond Time is available on vinyl for the first time in the U.S. as an exclusive limited edition, 2-LP green pressing of 1000 copies on Saturday, October 24 for Record Store Day (RSD). The release is part of the “Mindful Vinyl” initiative and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to The Jed Foundation, a non-profit organization that protects emotional health and prevents suicide for teens and young adults in the United States.

The Making of Fade Away Diamond Time

Since so many fans only know of Neal through his more recent years, Neal’s long time manager and best friend Gary Waldman wrote a “listener’s guide” type of companion for all of Neal’s solo records.

Gary had this to say about Fade Away Diamond Time (1995):

“We all lived at Palacio Del Rio for 3 beautiful weeks while recording the album and it was a truly magical recording experience. ‘Maybe California’ and ‘Free To Go’ are two of the defining songs on the record and encapsulate the sound Neal was pursuing at the time. ‘Feel No Pain’ is the song Neal regarded as his favorite from the album and one of the best songs he ever wrote.”
